My time is the modern name for an ancient concept. It’s about sitting down and doing whatever you want. Weekends don’t always count.
You should try to give yourself time to do whatever you want each day. You are the most important person in the world and there is no reason why anyone should get in the way of that.
How Much Time Am I?
Aim to get as much time as you can. There are only two rules of my time:
- Get seven days a week.
- Try to spend at least ten minutes doing whatever you want.
Don’t beat yourself up about the head if you miss a day. We all have busy periods in our lives where we have to work hard and ignore our personal desires for a day or two.
What should you do?
Do whatever you want. It can be something as mundane as watching your favorite TV show or something as spontaneous as hiking up the hill behind your house. As long as you can disconnect from your current life in a few moments, you will truly experience the benefits of this moment for yourself.
Meditation is very powerful because we clear our minds and disconnect from the world for a while. It has the exact same effect. You must not take your cell phone or any music. It should just be you and the world. This gives your body time to relax as you are not thinking about anything.
It won’t necessarily repair you physically, but its mental benefits can make you feel refreshed and ready to work again.
Work all day sleep all night. This is the kind of lifestyle that kills people. They begin to feel that there is no purpose in life other than work. A life where you are a slave to your job and your boss is not a life to live. This can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression and low self-esteem because you feel worthless.
By taking time for me, you break the cycle. You show the world that you are an independent human being. You are the most important person in the world. Even the ten minute mark can mean the difference between happiness and unhappiness.
I can’t get time off
The biggest barrier for me time is you. You are the one who decides you can’t get time off. If you really can’t find a few minutes that are yours, you need to make some big changes. Show up five minutes late for work. Your boss can yell at you, but he won’t fire you for it. The worst thing that could happen was for her to turn bright red from screaming.
Ask yourself, who cares what he thinks? Life wasn’t made for you to act like a slave. You are more important than any work and other commitments. Take some time for yourself, even if it means letting people down every once in a while. If they can’t understand your need to relax, that’s their problem, not yours.
Come on, love yourself a little – it’s okay!
