3 Simple Tips for a Stress-Free Move

3 Simple Tips for a Stress-Free Move

Moving is thrilling. That’s why we created this guide to help you stay on track. Moving from place to place is difficult, and so is moving your life in general. However, don’t forget that moving to a new place is also an exciting time!

Follow these tips to help ease the transition to a new status.

Create a Budget

Software programs are perhaps the easiest way to create a budget template. Microsoft Word or Excel are some of the best programs that you can use with Excel that allow you to use formulas for easy calculations.

While it may seem like a lot of work, creating a moving budget should be your first step in planning your move. This will force you to look closely at ways to save money and what the actual cost of your move will be, both before the move and after you’ve unpacked the last box.

Be sure to research the cost of living, and compare it to nearby cities. For example, Whistler house for sale will be more expensive than the house in Squamish. Whatever your salary grade, living comfortably and within your means should be your first concern.

Hire Movers

A professional moving company can do everything about your move, including packing your boxes, moving things, and unpacking your things in your new home. This option will likely cost the most but involve the least amount of stress and work for you. You can save money by packing it yourself.

Using a moving company may not be as expensive as you think, and it’s well worth your time to get a big estimate or remote movement. When you consider costs, be sure to factor these costs in.

Garage Sale

Packing is usually not something one looks forward to. While you can’t avoid it, you can definitely make the process easier. Don’t spend time packing and moving things you don’t really need to carry. One of the easiest ways to get rid of all that unwanted stuff is to have a garage sale.

The key to a successful garage sale is to start planning early, so you don’t have to rush to arrange a sale right before your moving date. You will probably end up with some items that don’t sell. You can always collect them all and drop them off at your local charity shop.

This is also a good time to tackle everything else you can’t sell, for starters. If you have a lot of stuff to throw away, you might want to hire a garbage disposal company to clean it all up.

Moving Day

You will need cash and essentials for moving day. You will need cash to tip the moving crew and pay for any food you order. When you move everything into your new home, you may need a little time to relax before you start unpacking.

Hence, having 24 hour essentials in an overnight bag is very beneficial.

Update Your Car Documents: You have 30 days to update plates, labels and insurance after moving in.

Notify Government Agencies: Change your address with the IRS and other applicable government agencies, such as Social Security or the VA. Confirm mail forwarding with the post office.
