We all feel stressed from time to time, thanks to the pressures of work, caring for a family, household chores, and life’s little dramas. While a little bit of stress is normal, if you don’t know how to manage it, you can quickly start feeling overwhelmed – and it can even affect your mental and physical health.

So it’s important to know some simple ways to deal with it. Below, you’ll find some practical tips that can help keep tension under control.

Don’t miss your lunch break

Let’s start with the workplace, because it is a common cause of stress for many people? It’s not uncommon for someone to skip their lunch break to squeeze in an extra hour of work – and when you’re feeling particularly pressed for time, it only gets more tempting.

However, it’s usually a lot less productive than you might think. By skipping breaks, you don’t give yourself a chance to recover, which generally means you’ll be working slower and less efficiently later in the day. So, even if you work overtime, you may not necessarily get more done.

However, what you will do will end up being more stressful, as you will find it frustrating to work more and accomplish less. It also tends to mean you’ll resent the time you spend at work, which doesn’t help either!

Share your problems

The old adage about a problem shared is a problem halved is worth listening to. Talking to others about your stressors can have several benefits.

First of all, it can help you get a new perspective on how to fix your problem. Second, getting it off your chest can be a huge relief, and third, it will make you feel supported.

Be active

Being active is another fantastic way to fight stress. It doesn’t matter what you do – long walks, runs, dancing and regular sessions at the gym are all great – as long as it gets you moving.

How exactly does this help combat stress? Well, exercise is thought to help boost your general mood, which, as you can imagine, will help stop stress in its tracks. Good exercise can also help you relieve frustration and tension, and clear your mind so that you are better able to deal with problems.

Buy an oxygen cylinder

You also need to take a look at what stress relief products are out there. One of the lesser-known options is buying an oxygen cylinder (which you can find out more about here Here).

It helps you deal with stress by dealing with problems caused by low oxygen levels. For example, poorly ventilated offices and rooms can limit our oxygen supply and lead to problems such as depression and sleep deprivation. However, by investing in these kinds of products, you can overcome this by breathing oxygen-enriched air regularly.

Accept that you can’t control everything

This last point sounds simpler than that, but is worth sticking with. People often get stressed when they feel like a situation is out of their control, but the fact is that sometimes things are out of your control – like rising food prices causing your budget problems.

The key is to try not to worry about the things you can’t do, and focus instead on what you can change. Using the example above, you can see what else you can change in your budget to balance the books, such as buying a less expensive supermarket brand.
