The government has streamlined the process of obtaining an ILP in recent years to promote tourism in the northeast. However, even if you need to put in extra effort, it will all be worth it.

  • Right Travel Equipment

Whichever of the seven states you head to, the incessant change of weather is one thing you’ll find common across all of them. Besides being fun and enjoyable, rain also makes the weather very cold.

Especially since you’ll be driving a two-wheeled vehicle, make sure you always have a lightweight, waterproof jacket with you. You can also bring extra clothing, raincoats and other suitable items travel gear to deal with unpredictable weather conditions.

The best time to visit the seven states is between September and April when there is some nice sunshine too.

  • Highway

The road to the seven states is mostly comfortable. However, if you want to travel to the out of the ordinary places in the state, prepare yourself for some bumpy roads. Especially when you go uphill in Nagaland you have to cross jerky roads facing steep slopes.

While it may get the adrenaline rush of the rider in you, it can also be risky for you. Make sure you drive extra carefully when in those lanes.

Traveling through rough and rocky patches leaves you and your vehicle with an accidental encounter with damage. Therefore, get online vehicle insurance before making such a trip. This will protect you from such risks.

  • No internet connection

The state is not yet digitally equipped, so don’t rely on the internet to navigate your way around. However, the main districts of several of these seven states now have good wi-fi outlets.

So, it is recommended that you do your research thoroughly before starting your journey. You can even bring resources like map printouts or ask locals for help.

However, before undertaking such a trip, you must also be prepared to deal with any untoward incidents that might catch you off guard. Narrow, bumpy roads, which are common in the northeast, increase the chances that your vehicle will be damaged or involved in an accident.

To protect yourself against such contingencies, purchase auto insurance online right after you plan your trip. Currently, leading insurance companies such as Tata AIG General Insurance provide two-wheeled vehicle insurance policies that offer protection against loss or damage to the vehicle, third party liability and personal accident protection for the owner-driver.
