Every January, the internet fills with people looking for ways to get healthy. The most searched topics are about fitness and weight loss. Yet how many of us actually follow our resolutions throughout the year?
Let’s think about how many times we actually exercised in the last six months. Now, you can’t just expect yourself to go from zero to 100 and expect to keep it going.
Most people fail to achieve their health goals because they set unrealistic goals. If you don’t exercise at all right now, should you exercise five days a week when the new year comes? No, it’s a better idea to pace yourself. Going all out from the first week can backfire.
This can lead to exhaustion which will begin to eat away at your mental resolve and your burden will be reduced to dust by March. If working out starts to become a chore, you’ll stop doing it, it’s that simple.
So what can you do? Make it fun! Add variety to your workouts, and remember to add that same variety to your diet.
Here are some tips for staying on track with your health goals this new year.
Take Supplements
If you’re not feeling your best, then working out will literally take a back seat. Today, you can get supplements for almost any health problem and to increase the nutrients you may be lacking. With so many on the market, choosing the right one can be difficult. There are many Verified Review Research online shows what the top manufacturers make and what you should consider when buying a supplement.
One of the amazing supplements that are beneficial for weight loss and building muscle is CLA. Conjugated Linoleic Acid is commonly derived from safflower oil and studies have found it to aid weight loss without reducing muscle mass.
Healthy Food Not Boring Food
This is perhaps one of the biggest misconceptions that healthy food means bland and boring food. And who wants to eat boring food for the rest of their life? But this is not the case. You can make lots of delicious soups and even delicious stews and still eat healthy.
The point is to eat whole foods and not processed foods. Just switching from white flour to whole wheat will really help to be healthy and lose weight too.
Be sure to include lots of fruits and vegetables in your diet, and enough protein too. Your body can’t build muscle without enough protein. You can bake chicken in the oven with some sweet potatoes, green beans, potatoes and enjoy a delicious and filling meal that is also healthy.
Toss leftover chicken with vegetable salad and chop greens for a great salad the next day.
Enough sleep
Sleep is important for both our physical and mental health. It also helps with weight loss. Feeling tired and lacking in energy are reasons most people go for a sweet snack or skip hitting the gym, which doesn’t help your health and wellness resolutions.
So making sure you get enough sleep each night is just as important as hitting the gym. Make sure to make it a priority too!
Make Exercising Fun
If you want sports to be a part of your life, you have to enjoy it. If going to the gym and walking on the treadmill isn’t working for you, then find something that will. Exercising can be fun! And with so many exercise classes out there, your options are endless.
Try pole dancing, ballet, hip hop, zumba, HIIT training, bootcamp, TRX, there’s something for you, you just have to find it. You can also mix them up to keep it interesting. And when setting a workout schedule for yourself, don’t overdo it.
Make sure you also have enough rest time. Be realistic in your goals and pace yourself.
