BOLT gives you a way to store, organize, and share stories, articles, and vacation plans. You can collect great design examples, gift ideas, useful tips, and other meaningful content you find on the Web and keep it all in your own personal and permanent collection.
When you share with BO.LT, you express yourself with every page you share. Each page you copy and add is a permanent replica of your own, to which you can attach a profile photo, comments, and invitations to explore what interests you. If you get inspired, you can even edit the page content and images before sharing them.
Tagged content can be changed, moved, or deleted. Links shared on Facebook and Twitter get buried after you share. BO.LT is different in that it creates a gallery of permanent page copies that you can share and revisit at any time.

Q1 : How did you come up with the idea to create this awesome web social bookmarking service?
We have a long background in web pages and design – we built the first site on the web that generated $1 million in revenue in one day! Along the way, we value the reach and quality of content that people consume and share through pages. With the rise of Tumblr and Twitter, we’re seeing that pages are no longer a destination for links, but are actually social objects, and people want to share them the way they share photos and videos.
But the only options available are bookmarking sites or link-sharing sites, most of which actually consider the page an afterthought. We believe that context, credits, real recommendations, and narrative are only possible when you have a place to combine images, videos, text, and other media together to tell a story. For now, it’s a page, and we’re the place to share it!
Q2 : How does BO.LT benefit users and how do they use it?
Let’s be honest – the main benefit is that when you drop a page into Bolt, it doesn’t disappear and keeps working. That’s really a first. I like to joke that a Bolt is a Pin that just won’t come off. And I think people like you can put together stuff that you find interesting and there’s a great community that cares about what you share.
Q3 : As we know, you have mentioned that BO.LT copies the page and stores it on your server. So if the site is offline or down, people might still see it because we gave them the BO.LT url?
That’s the problem. We store images, CSS, and JavaScript, so a page is something you’re proud to share, not something you put in a file because you might pay attention to it later. It took nearly two years to fix it. And there is more than one server! In fact, we have servers all over the map to make sure the pages are fast.
Q4 : What are the new features that we will see in the future expansion of BO.LT?
There’s a lot more to be done to provide more control over collections, letting people re-sort bolts and collectibles to better organize their items and display them properly. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Suffice it to say that our goal is that we will create a fundamentally new way to share, not just another tile-based image browser.
