We have literally been swallowed whole by technology. The old work ethic that our parents knew and followed is no longer valid in the modern world. They have all changed and come down to survival of the “smartest”. You may have seen or heard that some men and women with PhDs have even been reduced to work as cleaners because jobs in their profession are scarce, while some individuals without a diploma have managed to make millionaires out of themselves.
Amidst this irony, how do you think you managed to achieve your own personal success?
The current economy is turbulent, it’s hard to keep up, let alone determine the career path you want to take. Finding a decent job that pays well and keeps gray hair at bay these days is tough, but it’s not impossible to avoid drama. Sometimes the best solution is to become your own master; to create work for yourself, rather than asking someone else to give it to you.
However, this approach requires more than your will, talent and persistence – you need a team. No one can create an empire on their own, so if you want to be king, you must learn how to rule.
Evaluate your leadership skills
First, not everyone is cut out to be a leader. Before you decide to start your own business venture, you should assess whether or not you are in a position to mentor others. Don’t hesitate to be the right hand of someone who has more charisma and mental strength than you, because the key is to build a unit that functions as a whole, not putting your ego above all else.
If you believe that you can, in fact, lead, than by all means hold on to that belief and make it happen, because it’s going to be a bumpy ride no matter what. It takes courage to take responsibility for someone else’s career, but it takes even more to admit that someone else is better than you at it. Remember, this skill can be learned, so don’t rush it if you don’t feel ready.
The difference between a leader and a boss
This difference will definitely put things into perspective. Here’s the thing – a boss, by a legitimate definition, is one who gives orders and orders on the sidelines. They don’t do the heavy lifting, sometimes they don’t even know how to do it in the first place. They focus solely on self-improvement and are known for setting an example for others, esp something must be awry. Easier to scold, than praise, right? Well, the leaders, on the other hand, are in the trenches with the rest of their team.
They care about collective development, they carry most of the burden on their shoulders and try to be role models for others. It is this profile that employees like to follow, definitely not autocrats who only care about personal gain.
Sparking passion

You have to believe in what you’re doing, otherwise you’re technically just prolonging your existence without much reason. Consequently, what you do should rub off on other people, people feel and react to other people’s spirits intuitively.
Also, ego is a necessary trait for someone in this position, but a true leader knows that it should be used to inspire, not to brag. Once the whole team has uniform goals and they all share the same passion for their trade, nothing can stop the machine. Leaders are there only to show the way.
