Beware
Be aware of your child’s need for routine, rest, and consistency. Children thrive when they know what to expect. Any disturbance in their daily routine will manifest into unwanted behavior. You have the power to make them successful by keeping their routine as simple and normal as possible.
Be Attentive
Pay attention to your child’s ability to handle a shopping trip through a crowded store. Kids can only last a few minutes following you shopping. Plan to shop before Winter Break while your child is still in school. Remember that when your child is happy, everyone else in the household is happy too.
Be generous
Be generous from the bottom of your heart. This is the season of give and take. Your kids will definitely learn about accepting. Show them how to give from the heart: from feeding and playing with homeless animals in an animal shelter, to singing and warming the hearts of parents in a nursing home, your child will experience the power of love and compassion.
Be Responsive
Being able to respond rather than react to your children’s requests. There’s no denying that toys, candy, and treats will be abundant and ubiquitous during the season. Your child’s behavior is directly related to his nutrition and rest. Set them up for success by providing sweets and healthy snacks and getting enough sleep and rest.
Give thanks
Smile! Everything is fine! Even if you can’t afford the high-end, high-tech device that everyone should own, remember to practice gratitude. Gratitude as an attitude is best cultivated during the holidays! The truth is, you can’t buy everything your kids want. Focus on the important needs of your children. Spending time together is perhaps the best gift you can give your child this holiday season. Be thankful for the simple joys in life that your child so generously shares with you: a weekend morning wake-up hug at 5:00 a.m., a smile after enjoying the last little bite of your delicious homemade dinner, a little dance that celebrates the end of the day. -+ 3000 pieces of Lego projects you’ve spent hours on, a quiet, peaceful embrace for story time by the fire on a cold winter night.
Be kind
Be kind and gentle to yourself. You can only do so much in 24 hours, 1440 minutes, 86400 seconds in one day! Take care of yourself and recharge yourself with peace and serenity. When you feel centered and peaceful within, you will see peace and tranquility manifest in the outside world.
Inhale, Breathe Out
Take time to slow down. Inhaling, you slow down your restless mind and body. Take time to smile. Exhaling, you smile. Take time to listen to your breath, inhale and exhale. Take time to enjoy every little sip of your hot morning tea, sip slowly, relax, without rushing into the future, enjoy the moment, because it’s all you have.
