I have bad news for you. If you are the proud owner of a Ford Fiesta, Ford Focus or Vauxhall Corsa then you drive a regular car. Yes, that’s right – the three most popular new bikes in the UK in 2013 were the Ford Fiesta, Ford Focus and Vauxhall Corsa, and thanks to some pretty attractive financial deals to date, it’s a safe bet to assume that at least one of those cars will be top seller in 2014 as well.
How do you feel?
Well, if you ride any of the above I think you should feel honored. After all, numbers don’t lie, and that’s one sweet ride you’ve got there. Let’s take a look at each of the vehicles and see why they are selling so well.
Ford Fiesta
The Ford Fiesta is the best super mini you can buy. It has sublime handling, excellent smoothness, various powerful engines and is well equipped in every trim level. It’s also cheap to buy, cheap to run, and cheap to tax.
Fueling Ford Fiesta sales towards the end of 2013 is the Fiesta ST, a truly outstanding hot hatch that steals the spotlight from its closest rivals, the Peugeot 208 GTI and Renault Clio RS. That model starts at just £17,995. But the best version in my opinion is the 1.0T EcoBoost 125, which picks up warm hatch speed but returns to 65.7 miles per gallon.
Ford Focus
The Ford Focus goes head-to-head with the Volkswagen Golf every year, but the British public has spoken out – the Focus offers better value for money, and as such, it demolishes the Golf into fifth place. Like the Fiesta, the Focus is available in ST form, but this model offers a very powerful 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine.
There is a used ford focus available at Bristol Street Motors Today’s technology is loaded at a reasonable price. Hot bidding for the Focus, and cold bidding for the Golf, which makes Ford a better buy for the general public.
Vauxhall Corsa
3rd place in best-selling cars of 2013 is the Vauxhall Corsa, which goes head-to-head with the Fiesta for sales. Fueling last year’s Corsa sales were the ‘Limited Edition’ models, which benefited from unique trim inserts, bespoke alloy wheels and a neat paint job.
It also helps that the Corsa is incredibly fun to drive, with the VXR version being a particular blast.
While all three of these cars are top sellers, give a big round of applause to Britain’s rarest car – the Aston Martin Cygnet, which has only sold 70 times.
