Greece is a small country with sites scattered everywhere you look, but to make the most of it, you need to have a list of things you want to see. Then plan your trip around those items.

1 – Acropolis
This iconic site in the heart of Athens is a must-see for anyone with an interest in classical history. It is located on a hill that stands majestically above the modern city. This is the reference point for almost all Athenians.
Most of what remains dates from the 5th century BC and includes the Parthenon and several other religious buildings from that era. It has a troubled history and it is a miracle it has survived as it was even used as an ammunition depot by the Ottomans which exploded some 100 years ago.
It can be very touristy and crowded so try to get there early to enjoy it more or less to yourself. All the best hotel in athens are in the area so you can get started as soon as you wake up.

2 – Corinthian
Not far outside of Athens is Corinth so history buffs can take day trips outside the city and see some of the amazing historical sites. For starters, there is a canal which is carved out of solid rock and basically makes the Peloponnese a peninsula. It was carved over two thousand years ago and has been used by sailors ever since.
The city of Corinth can still be visited today where you can walk the same streets Apostle Paul walking when he visited in AD 51. There are temples, baths and basilicas to visit amidst the landscape of arid hills that surround it.
3 – Delphi
One of the most atmospheric sites in Greece that evokes scenes of ancient life is of course Delphi. It was here that the famous Oracle of Delphi confused kings and commoners alike with her predictions.
Remnants of the nature reserve still exist amidst a backdrop of mountains and unspoiled nature. It’s worth the trip just for the views, but exploring a place where kings, emperors and other famous personalities also walked is spectacular.
A picnic to sit and eat in the ancient theater with a spectacular backdrop is a memory to last a lifetime.
