After publishing one of my recent posts – “5 silent warnings that your life is out of balance” – it is now more than fair to share ways to bring balance back into our lives. While we all have very different lives, circumstances, stories, and ways to experience them, there are some common spaces we can build on to feel centered and grounded. From centering and grounding, we can refocus and direct our thoughts more effectively and let go of feelings of confusion, disconnection, or loss.
When our foundation is stable, the ripples that affect our life come as a way to make us aware of Life but they do not deprive us of our truth, vision and power. Here are 5 solutions for managing your lows with highs so you grow from imbalance and into strength.
1 – Deepen your self-awareness – Reveal Your Blueprint
Our society, made of competitiveness over valued uniqueness, promotes a sense of collective separation and exclusivity. While this can be experienced as a power, most of the time, creating a leakage of energy, is experienced as a feeling of worthlessness. Going against established dogma is a waste of time and conforming to it is a waste of time. The compromise is overcoming collective dogma with individual flair.
When we feel out of balance, we show a lack of self-awareness. We are influenced by external factors and subject to them without knowing how to manage them because we forget what we are made of. When we become clearer about who we are, we become empowered with a new sense of structure about ourselves. The construction of this structure is the foundational determinant of our inner self. Define what you know to be your strengths and weaknesses. Once you express it, invest your strength and learn to surrender “imperfection“.
2 – Trust the process of Life – Feel the Connection
Prosperity and balance are maintained with a basic life foundation called connection. When life is connected, it is only at peace with itself. While this may be a space most of us would like to access, it is not one that requires change, transformation and evolution. Most of our unbalanced moments are created from an inner need for growth. They come from our thirst for true knowledge.
Once we know what we know, we unconsciously (or consciously) create circumstances that challenge us to open new doors and expand our world. When our relationship with our inner strength remains anchored in our Truth, then we can welcome change and transformation like a caterpillar welcomes its cocoon and wings without fear. It just trusts the process. Faith is pure connection. This breaks the need to control Life with the mind (which tends to create stress) and opens up the possibility to trust Life with the heart (which tends to relax).
3 – Listen to your Breath – Find inner guidance
The obvious isn’t always the answer to our lack of order. Most of the time, it is in the midst of the subtle and the words whispered in silence that we can find our deepest responses.
To quiet our minds so that they don’t wander in all directions and concentrate our distracted minds into stillness and order means to refrain from spoken words and listen to the stillness of our breaths. We must realize that our silence speaks a larger language. It speaks the language of our souls, in symbols, synchronicities, and coincidences. It is subtle and unique to ourselves. There is no dictionary for that, we have to make our own. We are forever guided from within and when we begin to listen to our intuition, we hear the same voice that reminds us of our genius, our uniqueness, our talents and our values.
4 – We are here – Let’s redirect our thoughts
Imbalance is the dichotomy experienced between feelings and thoughts. It is an inconsistency between what we know and what we experience. Our minds know life to be balanced and calm, but our minds feel the instability of its expectations and understandings. When we feel a want or need for something, we are expressing a fact that we know and understand that we do not have these feelings at this time in our life.
It’s enough to endure the feeling of not having. We have to bring our minds to the present moment. We have to let them carry our feelings in the moment. We must empower our minds with our wants and needs by reminding them that there is nothing that we are not. All that we seek is already present in abundance within us. The trick is to see, seek, and express it within.
5 – Moving beyond denial – Radical Honesty
The last on this list and certainly not the least important, is acceptance. Indeed, in any process of transformation, nothing is possible until the subject honestly opens his heart. The true power of transformation is experienced once we accept with integrity the ownership of who we are today. It occurs when we consciously choose to own every part as well as the whole of us. Nothing can change unless we, individually, become the ones who create what needs to be changed. It is the simple common sense “mind” that so many of us are stuck through victim consciousness. We shift responsibility for the events of our own life onto those around us. We want to save and change the people around us so we don’t have to face our mirrors. We try everything to make us feel good with temporary emotional bandages only to realize that it makes the wound swell and deepen.
A radical sense of honesty is always a healing tool. Many may no longer embrace Lance Armstrong, but in his brave and daring decision to speak the truth, he has embraced himself. Lying is always an escape that takes connection and balance away from us. Radical honesty and down-to-earth integrity are always paths of healing that strengthen our journey.
